I am now officially initiated into a deeper level of motherhood….On Saturday my daughter threw up for the first time and it was ALL over me. Poor thing, I lifted her and myself up from laying down all the time trying to keep the vomit from dropping onto the floor. Then once in the bathroom (off carpeting) I set her down and then had to figure out how to handle the drenched clothes on both of us. It really is a science, to undress trying to contain a mess like that. In one afternoon I dealt with 4 episodes and managed to have messes in my hair, on my clothes, in the carpet, on the loveseat and all over her stuffed monkey. I went through 2 sets of clothes and then gave up and just wore a robe (which got discarded after the 3rd and 4th episode…). I learned to have my hair pulled back after the second episode of getting it in my hair…(I am a slow learner, I guess). We had several baths that day, as you can imagine.
My brother called and was going to give me a hard time but my mom had mentioned to him that obviously he had never been thrown up on or he wouldn’t even think to tease someone about that subject. He has now informed his girlfriends 5 year old son that he is not allowed to throw up on Matt, haha, if it were only that easy!

Lessons from Fiction
I love to read Christian Fiction. My favorite authors are: Janette Oke, Lori Wick, Tracie Peterson, Francine Rivers, and Karen Kingsbury
In re-reading a book from Janette Oke called "The Measure of a Heart" I read a quote that spoke to me on page 214 "Give God you...All of you. Just as He made you." As my friends are nearing or are in their 30s I have begun to hear alot of talk about how you really KNOW yourself in your 30s. I desire to know myself so well that I operate in the giftings God has given me smoothly and comfortably. I don't want to second guess what I am supposed to do or be insecure in what God has called me to. I want to trust that He will provide for the details if He has called me to something.
That doesn't mean that we will always have confidence I know but I want to have TRUST that God will be with me every step of the way. Zechariah 4:6 "Not by might, nor by power but by my Spirit, saith the Lord." and 2 Corinthians 12:9 "And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness."

Ramblings of a loving mom
I love to see Jocelyn's firsts. I loved her first smiles, laughs, steps etc. As a speech language pathologist, I am really enjoying seeing her understand language and also begin to use it. She has been following commands really well and has been using signs (me, all done, more, eat, please, sorry, again, up, want, etc). Even though the research showed that it didn't slow down the acquisition of speech, I secretly thought maybe Jocelyn was choosing to use sign and not talk. This week Jocelyn really took off in learning words. She is paroting alot of our single words and she put two words together today when she said "up Mama". I LOVE to hear her gaining words each day.
She loves to ride the horses which she got to do yesterday. It isn't very often that you get to ride in January! She loves to see the dogs and cats when we go and visit family too. She is taking after her daddy in loving the outdoors and animals.
